Compak Sporting competitions in South Africa

Compak SA runs the national calendar for Compak Sporting — the FITASC shotgun discipline — with registered shoots at affiliated clubs across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and the Free State. The season builds from monthly club shoots and provincial trials to the majors: the SA Champs, the Presidents Cup and the Beretta Cup.

How do I enter a Compak SA competition?
Browse the competition calendar, open the event and register online with a free Compak SA account. Paid-up members get ranked entries, official classification and preference on squad selection for national events.
What is Compak Sporting?
Compak Sporting is the FITASC shotgun discipline shot in South Africa under Compak SA. A round is 25 clay targets across five shooting cages with up to six trap machines, so targets vary constantly — it's compact sporting clays designed for competitive shooting.
When is the next Compak Sporting competition in South Africa?
The calendar on this page lists every registered upcoming shoot — monthly club shoots, provincial trials and the national majors such as the SA Champs, Presidents Cup and Beretta Cup 2026. New dates are added as clubs register their events.
Can beginners enter Compak competitions?
Yes. Club-level shoots welcome newcomers, and the classification system (A, B, C and lower classes) means you compete against shooters of a similar standard from your very first event. Guest shooters can shoot for practice; members shoot for ranking points.
Where are Compak SA competitions held?
At affiliated clubs across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and the Free State. Each event listing shows the host club and province, and the club directory has directions and contact details.

Scoring & edge cases

What counts as a "lost" target in Compak Sporting?
A target is lost when you fire and miss, or fail to fire at a regular target without a permitted reason. On singles you get one cartridge per target, so a missed shot is a lost target with no second chance.
How are no-birds and trap malfunctions handled?
If the trap fails to throw, throws late, or releases a broken or irregular target, the referee calls a no-bird and the target is re-thrown — whether or not you fired. Nothing is recorded against your score.
Does a broken clay count as a hit?
Yes, if a visible piece breaks off. Dust alone isn't enough — the referee must see a piece separate from the target. A clay that smashes without being shot is a no-bird and is re-thrown.
Who records my score during a competition?
A designated scorer captures the referee's calls on the KillCount.AI scoring pad — shooters never enter their own scores. Scores stream live to the scoreboard and become official once the round is signed off and verified.
How does my competition score affect my classification?
Classification is calculated from your scores in registered competitions: consistently high percentages move you up through the classes (C, B, A and beyond), so you always compete against shooters of a similar standard.
